What are Central Venous Catheters?
A Central Venous Catheter or CVC is a catheter commonly placed below the right collarbone, in the upper arm, and sometimes on the leg. Its thin and long material allows the catheter to enter through your veins from the arm and reach veins near your heart.
This type of catheter is helpful in many ways. It allows your healthcare physician to administer medication and liquid nutrition. It also helps reduce pain from constant needles and injections and reduces irritation from other veins.
