What is the Gastrointestinal System?
The gastrointestinal system or digestive system is in charge of the digestion and absorption of nutrients of food, including solids and liquids. It is one of the largest systems of the body and It extends from the mouth to the anus.
The GI tract contains all the organs of the digestive system, including the mouth, salivary glands, throat, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, rectum, and anus.
